More and more teenagers in Europe are learning German at school! With five million albums and DVDs sold in Germany, Tokio Hotel are one of the most popular German groups - especially in France.
The group first met in 2001. They started playing music when they were young. Bill and Tom Kaulitz, who are twins, started playing guitar at the age of seven. By the time they were teenagers, they were playing in clubs. At first they were called Devilish, but in 2003 they changed their name to Tokio Hotel.
Their music is a mix of different styles like pop punk, gothic rock and sentimental ballads.
The band has won lots of awards, like Best Group at the MTV Europe Awards in November 2009. Their new album, Humanoid, is a big hit. It exists in two versions: one in German and one in English.
They also perform great live shows with special effects and fantastic costumes. Everywhere they go, they are met by screaming fans. Their fourth tour, Humanoid City Tour, starts in Luxembourg this month and ends on 14 April with a concert at Paris Bercy.
